A FACEBOOK Page About the Struggles of Weight Loss

A friend of mine started a FB page about her struggles with weight loss. It's brutally honest and really shows how hard some of us struggle. It's not as simple as "put the fork down" or "get more exercise" as some people would cruelly put it.   Would you tell an addict it's as simple as never picking up the syringe again? Or taking another drink?

Food addiction is real and I, myself am in the grips of it. I have to try every day to not let it dominate me. Problem is, unlike other addictions, you can't just remove the offending substance by going to rehab or never bringing it in your house again. Food is a must.

Think about an alcoholic who, though recovering, isn't allowed to remove all the bottles from his/her house. In fact, they are told to take one small drink a day but no more. Can you imagine the agony of someone whose addicted to the drink, who wants to quit but they forever have it dangling in front of their face and, on top of that, are actually required to take one drink yet not over-indulge?  That is what it is like to be addicted to food. The mental need becomes a real physical need and when the amount that you are used to is restricted to what it would be like for someone who is not addicted, we feel real, physical pain. So we do whatever it takes to not feel that pain.  And round and round we go - where we stop - nobody knows.

Encouragement only if you choose to "LIKE" the page. Ridicule only strengthens the addiction. Remember that.
